Operator licences are regulated by the Traffic Commissioner with support of enforcers; Police and DVSA.  When things go wrong business, owners, the transport manager and/or drivers can be prosecuted and the licence curtailed, suspended or revoked.

Our 2017 Transport Manager CPC Refresher course focuses on managing compliance, risk and preventing non-compliance.

There will be times when things go wrong.

A driver may use a handheld mobile phone while driving your lorry no matter how many policies and processes you have in place.  Your vehicles may receive PG9’s or your driver may leave his/her wallet at home and go out without the required cards.  You may find your driver has a second job, which has been undeclared or a myriad of other problems, which may result in investigation by the authorities.

Most of the time you will identify potential offences and deal with them internally.  However, if an enforcer finds the offence first what happens in an investigation.

  1. *What triggers a DVSA site visit - what can you do to minimise risk?

  2. *What happens at a maintenance site DVSA inspection - what must your vehicles and records show?

  3. *How do DVSA investigate drivers hours management and what do they look for.

  4. *What happens at Public Inquiry.

  5. *When things go wrong, how can you achieve the best outcome for your business and operation?

A Transport Manager who cannot evidence effective and continuous control, who has not met the new requirements of their contract with the Operator Licence may be disciplined under Transport Manager Conduct legislation and can loose good repute.  In any case with any application to be Transport Manager to an Operator Licence your past performance will be checked for the Traffic Commissioner to determine your suitability for the role.

Providing evidence of annual training, demonstrating you are aware of current Transport Manager responsibilities will demonstrate to the Traffic Commissioner your proactive approach.

This course covers the responsibilities of the nominated Transport Manager and covers a refresher on all areas of compliance as well as updates on current legislation.

All our courses are interactive, fast moving, thought provoking and delivered by degree qualified, industry experienced teachers.
